Here is the very very excited mommy and daddy right before going into the operating room.
Early, early on the morning of November 17, 2009, Traceon's parents to be woke up with great excitement. For today was the day that Traceon was finally coming! They drove to the hospital, checked in, and went into the operating room about 7:15 a.m. His mom and dad were pretty nervous, but more excited than ever to get to finally meet their son! Surgery lasted about 25 mins before Traceon was tugged out of his mommy's belly. He instantly started to cry...which in turn made his mommy and daddy cry. He was so beautiful and perfect, it was love at first sight! The nurses all gathered around to measure, weigh, and make sure Traceon was okay. Mommy and daddy thought it was pretty funny that the nurse who was in charge of his umbilical cord had to get bigger sissors, because Traceon had such a "healthy" cord, that the smaller ones were just not doing the job. Perfect little Traceon weighed in at 7 lbs. 11 oz. (the same as his mommy when she was born.) Measuring at 21 in. long....and soooo adorable. After about the first 5 mins of his life, Traceon's nurses realized that he needed more oxygen then was being given to him....so they passed him through the door into the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, where he was to get a little extra attention.

After the recovery room I got to go see Traceon in the NICU. He was so little and precious. I thought about his big brother, who was at home, and what he was going to think of Traceon. The thoughts and prayers running through my head kept me relaxed and gave me faith that everything was going to be just fine.
Traceon progressed rapidly in the right direction as he stayed in the NICU. He was only on oxygen for about 5 hours. Doctor Anshutz (Traceon's neonatologist) took some x-rays of Traceon's lungs, and found a little bit of fluid build up in his left lung, and decided to put the little guy on some antibiotics to help clear it up. Despite all of the poking, tubes, and wires, Traceon was a terrific trooper and even caught on to breastfeeding a lot faster than I thought he would.
Here's the pround parents oogling over their gorgeous baby boy.
Day after day, as Traceon grew stronger, he become more and more alert. Isn't he soooo cute!
While Traceon was in the NICU he aquired some nick names by the nurses.....Fat Boy, Giant, Mr. Polson, and my favorite, Chunk. The NICU doesn't really get a whole lot of 7 lbs and over babies.
Although I think I was close to becoming crazy in the week we had to spend in the hospital, in the NICU, I did feel very grateful for my two healthy boys. When you are surrounded by babies who are 2 lbs and have to have blood infusions and things like that, you start to feel guilty, especially when the nurses are calling your "NICU baby" Fat Boy. I feel very blessed to have Aydan and Traceon as my children. I thank God every day for giving me the opportunity to be a mommy, and I will never take it for granted.
Here's the little guy all ready to go home. We stayed 7 full days in the hospital. Traceon passed all of the final tests with flying colors, and is a healty kid. Nursing is going so well ( he eats like a pig) and when we left the hospital he was already passed his birth weight.
